able to do the splits?
Yes! But
this all depends on, like anything, a healthy
eating and regular workout plan.
Your instructor will be able to greatly
help you in this area if you are interested. For the 150-pound person, martial art activity will burn on
an average of 680 calories per hour.
For the 200-pound person, this number jumps
to 819 calories per hour!
This answer all depends on the student.
Time invested in practice is the key.
The more time one spends practicing, the
better they will become.
It will take the average student about 3
years to reach the rank of 1st Degree
Decided Black Belt in Abishai Teakwondo.
Some students will take longer, and some a
little less, depending on the effort they put into
the sport.
There are seven colored belts (white, orange,
yellow, green, blue, brown, red)
and
seven degrees of the black belt.
Defeating your giants.
Quite the opposite actually.
Children learn discipline and self-control
through their practice of Taekwondo.
The defensive nature of Taekwondo is
continually reinforced in our classes.
In many cases, the self-confidence gained
by learning how to defend oneself will help a shy
withdrawn child become more outgoing and
confident. On the other hand, an aggressive child will become calm and
respectful of others.
Yes. Our
entire system is based on building self-confidence
- from daily successes in class, to earning new
stripes and belts, to breaking their first board,
to the day they become a black belt.
Confidence will soar not only in Taekwondo,
but also at home, with friends, and at school.
We insist that our students succeed outside of
our classroom as well as inside.
Unless our students do well in school and
show respect to their parents, siblings, teachers,
and other adults, they will not be allowed to
continue in our program.
We encourage parents to use our “Student
Report Cards” available on the back table as
much as they would like.
We want to do all we can to instill the
qualities in your child that will carry him or her
throughout their life
Yes! It
does not matter if you are male or female, child
or adult, we offer taekwondo classes for everyone
ages 4 and up.
Absolutely Not!
You are never too old to start taekwondo as
long as you are physically able to train. Of
course, the older you get the more difficult it
will be to do certain things, but the most
important aspect of a training is that you feel
good about the training and that you make progress
on both a physical and a mental level.
Yes you can. Flexibility is very practical for
high kicks but it is not an absolute must. Speed
has a big influence as well. You will see that
using proper technique and speed, you will reach
pretty high, even if you are not the most flexible
in your class!
No, start training right away! Taekwondo will
help you to become fit in a (relative) short
amount of time.
This answer depends on several variables.
First of all, some people are naturally
more flexible than others.
However, everyone, adult or child, male or
female, provided they don’t have any defects in
their hips or lower back, can get a split.
It can take students between six weeks to
six months or more of consistent, dedicated
practice and stretching to get comfortably into a
split. Both
pre and post workout stretches are an excellent
tool to gain flexibility.
